About us

We are currently looking for a Museum Front of House Volunteer to join the team at the Poole Old Lifeboat Museum.

RNLI heritage is defined as the story of our people and service since 1824.  In order to protect and preserve our history, the heritage team collect and care for objects and archives and make these accessible through our museums to the public.

The impact you will make

You will inspire current and future generations of supporters and lifesavers to enable the RNLI to continue to save lives at sea by and preserving the heritage of the RNLI by telling the story of our people.

What you will be doing

  • Interacting with visitors, providing a high level of customer service and ensuring that the museum and its shop are a friendly and welcoming place
  • Providing information about the museum and the surrounding area to our visitors
  • Volunteering with other team members to improve the museum experience, increase visitor numbers and maximise sales
  • Serving customers in the shop and operating the till and credit card machine

What you need for this role

  • Enthusiasm
  • Good communication skills and personable manner
  • Ability to contribute as part of a team (minimum of one morning or afternoon per week)
  • Confident handling money
  • Comfortable volunteering in a customer service environment
  • Interest in history
