About Us

The RNLI’s Lifeboat Station in Poole is looking for volunteers to join the team as Inshore Lifeboat Crew.

Please feel free to come along to Poole lifeboat station for a “Brew with the crew” on 15th November, 10am-1pm to talk to some of the crew, have a look round and learn more about the role.

For over 160 years Poole Lifeboat Station has served Poole Harbour and Poole Bay areas, keeping seafarers safe.  Poole Harbour and Bay are popular areas for sailing, fishing and other water sports making it a busy area and consequently one of the busier RNLI Lifeboat stations.

Our Lifeboat Crew are all volunteers, headed up by the Lifeboat Operations Managers and Launch Authorities, and supported by a diverse group of non-operational volunteers, all essential for the smooth running of the station. The wider team includes volunteer fundraisers, museum volunteers and water safety & visits teams.

All operational crews are thoroughly trained and follow the RNLI’s Competency Based Training Scheme, this is supported at station by regular training sessions. Our crews operate on an on-call basis, responding to pagers when the Lifeboats are tasked.
