About us 

The RNLI’s Lifeboat Station in Seahouses is looking for a volunteer to expand their involvement with the existing team in the role of Inshore Lifeboat Helm

Established in 1827, Seahouses Lifeboat Station runs both an all-weather lifeboat and an inshore lifeboat. The crews have been presented with four awards for gallantry.

The impact you will make

This role will help us save lives at sea by ensuring the Lifeboats at this lifeboat station are always ready for service and by taking command or crewing the stations lifeboat during service and exercise.

What you will be doing

• Command the inshore lifeboat on service and exercise and at all other times serve as a member of its crew
• Maintain competence under Competency Based Training and contribute to the training of other volunteers
• carry out pre-launch and post–recovery checks, reporting defects and assist with maintenance and repair as needed

What you need for this role

• General fitness
• Live or work within 15 miles of the station and be between 18 and 65 years of age (B-Class and IRH)/ 18 and 55 years of age (D class)
