About us

The RNLI’s lifeboat station in Arbroath is looking for a volunteer to take on the role of Inshore Lifeboat Mechanic. 

Established in 1803, Arbroath is one of the oldest lifeboat stations in Scotland and the last Scottish station with a slipway. The station is currently home to B class Atlantic 85 and D class inshore lifeboats.

The impact you will make 

This role will help us save lives at sea by ensuring that the Inshore Lifeboat is maintained and ready for service.

What you will be doing 

• Ensuring that the lifeboat and associated equipment is kept operational.
• Carrying out planned maintenance and repairs.
• Conducting unplanned defect investigation.
• Reporting on the status of the lifeboat as required.
• Achieving and maintaining competence under the RNLI Competency Framework and following RNLI procedures and guidance.
• Contributing to the training of other volunteers.

What you need for this role 

• Team player
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to learn new skills
• Understanding of safe working practices in a lifeboat station or similar
• Understanding of mechanical/electrical systems
• Local maritime and RNLI knowledge (desirable)
