About us
The RNLI’s lifeboat station in Horton and Port Eynon is looking for a volunteer to take on the role of Inshore Lifeboat Mechanic and Vehicle Maintainer.
Horton and Port Eynon Lifeboat Station houses a D class lifeboat, which operates from the southern coast of the picturesque Gower peninsula. The crews have been presented with five awards for gallantry.
The impact you will make
This role will help us save lives at sea by ensuring that the Inshore Lifeboat is maintained and ready for service.
What you will be doing
- Ensuring that the lifeboat and associated equipment is kept operational.
- Carrying out planned maintenance and repairs.
- Conducting unplanned defect investigation.
- Reporting on the status of the lifeboat as required.
- Achieving and maintaining competence under the RNLI Competency Framework and following RNLI procedures and guidance.
- Contributing to the training of other volunteers.

What you need for this role
- Team player
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn new skills
- Understanding of safe working practices in a lifeboat station or similar
- Understanding of mechanical/electrical systems
- Local maritime and RNLI knowledge (desirable)
- Live or work within 15 minutes of the station and be between 18 and 65 years of age
