About Us

The RNLI’s Lifeboat Station in Torbay is looking for a volunteer to join the existing team in the role of Lifeboat Treasurer.

For nearly 140 years Torbay Lifeboat Station has operated an all-weather lifeboat and today the station also has an inshore D class lifeboat. The crews have a remarkable history of bravery with 52 awards for gallantry.

The impact you will make

This role will help us save lives at sea by ensuring that the financial activity of the station is conducted in accordance with RNLI regulations.

What you will be doing

  • Administer the RNLI station bank account
  • Ensure all sums donated to the lifeboat station are immediately credited to it, are properly acknowledged and are recorded on the monthly returns
  • Ensure that the annual statement of account is prepared, approved, signed and returned to RNLI Support Centre, Poole, on time

What you need for this role

  • IT skills – Word/Excel/Email
  • Able to handle money confidently
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge of accounting procedures
  • Willingness to learn about and adhere to RNLI financial procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of the local station (desirable)
