About us

Would you like to be part of a happy band of volunteers that are helping to save lives at sea without even getting wet? Could you get involved in inspiring visiting groups of children, young people and adults when they visit the Lyme Regis Lifeboat Station by providing information and delivering key messages about the work of the RNLI and staying safe near water?

Volunteering as a member of the Lifeboat Visits team and being part of the RNLI’s Lyme Regis Lifeboat Station means playing an important role within the charity as we aim to save the lives of people of all age groups through our visits programme.  A message given today could mean a life saved tomorrow.

In this role you will meet and greet visitors to the Lifeboat Station, presenting our vital water safety messages alongside promoting the work of the RNLI to motivate the next generation of RNLI supporters. You will liaise with the other volunteer team members and the volunteer Lifeboat Visits Officer, and together you will ensure that the visits do not impact negatively on operational procedures at the station.

In this role you will have the opportunity to meet lots of new people and develop your communication and presentation skills. Ideally you will have experience of working with people and possess strong team working skills alongside good communication and a willingness to be proactive in the community. If you possess or would like to develop these qualities we would love to hear from you.

Just as we give all our Lifeboat crews the right training and equipment to carry out their lifesaving work, we provide all of our volunteers with the necessary training and support to carry out their role effectively.  RNLI volunteers have access to a range of online learning materials, as well as opportunities for one to one support from fellow volunteers and RNLI specialists.

Please join us in making a difference to the safety of people of all ages.

Safeguarding

The RNLI is committed to safeguarding; protecting a person’s health, wellbeing, and human rights, enabling them to live free from harm, abuse, and neglect. We expect all employees and volunteers to share this commitment and have a zero-tolerance approach. The suitability of all prospective employees and volunteers will be assessed during the recruitment process in line with this commitment. This will include relevant criminal record checks being carried out dependent on the eligibility of the role. (England & Wales; DBS check, Scotland; Disclosure Scotland PVG, Northern Ireland; Access NI, Republic of Ireland; Garda Vetting; International, International Child Protection Certificate process).

Diversity at the RNLI

Our staff and volunteers have been saving lives at sea without prejudice for 200 years. We respect and value diversity of background, skills and perspectives within our teams, and consider it essential to help us deliver a world-class lifesaving service. We are an inclusive organisation and welcome applications from everyone. In addition to having the skills needed for the role, we also look for applicants who share our commitment to living our RNLI values (trustworthy, courageous, selfless, and dependable), and helping us work towards Our Vision: To save Every One.
