About us

The RNLI Visitor Centre is a new initiative to help save lives at sea by promoting the work of the RNLI within the community and tourist population, to help raise awareness of water safety messages and generate life-saving funds.

The Dartmouth Visitor Centre will provide a unique and free opportunity for individuals and groups to experience the RNLI’s work, learn about how to stay safe and support the charity through purchasing quality gifts in the RNLI shop. The facility will be open daily for visitors and can be booked for bespoke educations visits. We also have an outreach community education team who are able to visit schools or youth groups on request to deliver life-saving education messages linked to the national curriculum. We offer fun interactive sessions both at the centre and out in the community, delivered by experienced volunteer presenters.  

We are looking for volunteers to join the Visitor Centre team in Dartmouth help with running the shop, welcoming visitors and giving inspiring guided tours of our interactive facility.

The impact you will make

You will promote the work of the RNLI to the local community and visitors, help raise vital funds and save lives at sea by sharing key water safety messages.

What you will be doing

  • Give inspiring guided tours of the Visitor Centre to visitors including groups of young people and adults
  • Interact with customers, providing a high level of customer service, creating a friendly and welcoming environment
  • Communicate key RNLI messages and contribute to driving our One Crew ethos
  • Operating the till (including end of day cashing up) and credit card machine
  • Make Station/ Visitor Engagement Manager aware of any issues
