Volunteering as a member of the Whitby Lifeboat Museum Team means playing an important role within the charity. A message given and funds raised today could mean a life saved tomorrow. 

The impact you will make 

This role will help us save lives at sea by engaging museum and shop visitors with the inspiring heritage of the RNLI, raising awareness of key safety messages and generating vital funds within the local community and tourist population. 

What you will be doing 

  • Delivering the smooth day-to-day running of the museum and shop, maintaining a safe environment and alerting line management to any issues
  • Interacting with visitors, providing information about the museum and the surrounding area
  • Working with other team members to deliver a high level of customer service, ensuring that the museum and shop is a friendly and welcoming place
  • Operating the till (including end of day cashing up) and card machine
  • Championing the RNLI, its key messages, One Crew ethos and building its reputation in the local area 

What you need for this role 

  • Experience in customer service
  • Able to handle money confidently
  • Knowledge of the RNLI and our key messages
  • Enthusiasm
  • Good communication skills and personal manner
  • Ability to contribute as part of a team
