About Us
Mudeford has an Atlantic 85 and is a very busy station now averaging 80+ incidents/shouts a year. The station currently has 39 operational crew who are on pagers, ready to respond 24/7. As a busy holiday destination, the station’s crew have to deal with a wide range of incidents and which quite often, are very challenging. To be an operational crew member (shore or lifeboat crew) you need to live/work within 5 mins or 2 miles from the station in order for you to attend an incident. From the crew being paged, on average, it takes between 7 and 9 minutes to launch the lifeboat.
The operational crew are all volunteers and follow the RNLI’s national Competency Based Training Scheme. The station has 4 exercise sessions per month and this ensures that all the crew remain competent, safe and able to deal with the many demanding incidents they will have to deal with.
The impact you will make
These operational roles will help us save lives at sea by ensuring that our lifeboats are in a state of permanent readiness. You will be required to play an active role in the station and to be part of a very professional and friendly team.
What you will be doing
- Undertake training and maintain competence under the Competency Framework as necessary to fulfil the role of an operational crew member
- Be on call for lifeboat ‘shouts’
- Attend exercises on a regular basis
- Contribute to the overall upkeep of the station, lifeboats, equipment and help with fundraising activities.

What you need for this role
- Team player

- Live or work within 5 minutes/2 miles of the station and be between 18 and 65 years of age.
