About us
The Occupational Health team is piloting a new Volunteer Health Assessor role in the North and East region. To support this initiative, we are recruiting a small number of volunteers with existing healthcare qualifications and experience, who are geographically dispersed across the region, to assist stations with the onboarding of new volunteers.
The impact you will make
You will support our Lifeboat Medical Advisor Network by undertaking RNLI health assessments to ensure our crew meet the required medical standards to maintain our service.
What you will be doing
- Conducting health assessments in line with RNLI Protocol (Blood Pressure and Pulse, Snellen Eye Chart, Ishihara Colour Vision Test, Urine Dipstick Test, Health Assessment Questionnaire and clinical discussion.

Maintaining awareness of relevant RNLI and policies, procedures and general medical standards.

Upon request from OH, regional or local station management, coordinate and facilitate health assessments across a cluster of lifeboat stations.

Complete assessment paperwork in line with policy and GDPR using the online occupational health system.
What you need for this role
- Be a Registered Nurse on Part 1 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register or be a Registered Health Care Practitioner on the HCPC Register

Where applicable we will carry out appropriate enhanced safeguarding checks applicable to your operational jurisdiction. (ie DBS, PVG or Garda checks)
