About Us
Volunteering as a Lifeboat Visits Officer and being part of the RNLI’s Tower lifeboat station is an important role within the charity as we aim to save the lives of people of all age groups through our fantastic visits programme.
We’re very excited to open our brand-new Tower Visitor Centre to the public, where we will be running visits on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Plus, potential ad-hoc tours for larger groups.
As part of the recruitment process candidates will be invited to a recruitment day in mid-February at the station. Invitations will be sent out during week commencing 2 February 2026.

What you will be doing
- The role of the Visits Officer will be primarily to coordinate, facilitate and lead the Visits Team in delivering tours to members of the public.
- They will also have the opportunity to deliver inspiring tours of the lifeboat station to visitors including groups of young people and adults, depending on their availability.
- Encouraging local schools, youth and adult organisations to visit the lifeboat station
- Welcoming visitors to the station, so that they can learn about the lifeboat and the wider RNLI
- Supporting the RNLI's One Crew ethos while recruiting and managing a visits team of volunteers to assist with presentations and to create a welcoming environment for visitors
- Championing the RNLI and building its reputation in the area
- Liaising with operational volunteers at the station to ensure visits run in a safe and smooth manner alongside operational activities

The impact you will make
You will promote the work of the lifeboat station to the local community and visitors, help raise vital funds and save lives at sea by sharing key water safety messages.
What you need for this role
- Enthusiasm
- Good leadership and team working skills
- Have experience in delivering presentations to varying sizes of groups.
- Good communication skills and confident speaking to groups
- Comfortable interacting with young people
- A proactive approach overall
