About us

Volunteers are the heart of the RNLI and make up 95% of our people. They are ordinary people who do extraordinary things and without them we couldn’t save lives at sea.

And it’s not all about volunteering on our lifeboats or at our stations; there are so many other ways people give a little (or a lot) of their time to support the RNLI and make a lifesaving difference.

The impact you will make

Our recruitment support volunteers support local volunteer groups and teams from home by promoting volunteer vacancies, matching expressions of interest to vacancies and by supporting the implementation of recruitment plans.

What you will be doing

• Assist in planning volunteer recruitment campaigns for a variety of locations around the UK and Ireland, ranging from lifeboat stations to fundraising groups
• Identify suitable local organisations and networks to promote volunteer roles to
• Use social media and third-party websites to identify potential volunteers matching the skills required by our volunteer roles
• Utilise demographic and other data to help us target volunteer recruitment in the right areas and enable us to reach underrepresented communities
• Promoting a culture of volunteering best practice
• Occasionally support high profile recruitment events

What you need for this role

• Enthusiasm for volunteering and the RNLI
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• A computer and access to the internet
• Knowledge of social networking and the online environment
• Great planning skills
• Experience of recruiting and managing volunteers (would be beneficial)
